Miscellaneous Waste

If you have an item that doesn't seem to fall into any of the given categories within the Recycling & Disposal Information, visit the Community Resources page or call the Recycling Coordinator at 508.764.4252, x2 or 508.764.4289, x2.

Clothing and Textiles -- The Salvation Army, ARC, Worcester offers weekly curbside collection of clothing and textiles. Register online by noon Monday  to schedule a pickup. See what items are accepted. Yes even the one sock or blanket with holes can be recycled. Watch the educaitonal textile videos.

Sharps -- DO NOT put sharps in the household trash. Bring your sharps filled container to the Preventative Health Nurse. Call 508.765.8197 for hours of operation. As of July 1, 2012, medical waste regulations will not allow the disposal of sharps in household garbage.

Prescription Medicaiton -- DO NOT flush medication down the toilet or empty down the drain. Bring your unwanted prescription medication to the Preventative Health Nurse. Call 508.765.8196 for hours of operation.

Foam Packaging -- reuse or see if your local postal centers or antique stores can reuse it.

Plastic Bags -- place in collection containers at your local grocery store. Please recycle only clean, dry plastic bags and film. Remove receipts or any other items from bags. Bags accepted include the following:
• newspaper bags
• dry cleaning bags
• bread bags
• produce bags
• toilet paper, napkin, and paper towel wraps
• furniture wrap
• electronic wrap
• plastic retail bags (hard plastic and string handles removed)
• grocery bag
• Plastic food storage bags (clean and dry)
• plastic cereal box liners
• Tyvek (no glue, labels, other material)
• diaper wrap (packaging)
• plastic shipping envelopes (remove labels)
• case wrap (e.g., snacks, water bottles)
• air pillows
• All clean, dry bags labeled #2 or #4.
